i don’t feel like i fit in or that i’m really big enough to be here, but something in me keeps going. i still make a crowd of about 300 happen everyday. and the merch tent is running smoothly. jonny’s doing a great job. we got new merch today. thanks to stephen for putting the order in! i got some great news about being on a controversial movie soundtrack next fall. it’s kinda one of those bucketlist things. i’m reading this book, tour smart by the nine inch nails drummer. it makes me feel like how you feel when you listen to my music, like you’re not the only one. reading the chapter on the bus really put me at ease. i read like 60 pages in one sitting. it gets me excited to take control of my business even further.
the night before i had befriended catering, and we were sitting against the back fence while the aggrolites played a private set for all bands and staff. kevin lymon was cooking on the grill cooking everyone bbq. he got on the mic his voice was hoarse and he was wasted, but he said, keep the party going, that’s why i started this thing, and the aggrolites continues to play songs and i think a guy from reel big fish got on the mic and they harmonized. they had turned the football lights on, so everything was lit up. people were playing sandbag tic tac toe and ultimate frisbee.
i must’ve felt more inspired than aggravated yesterday, thought up a movie idea that would help revitalize the brand and introduce warped to a new gen in the 2010’s. i think this setting is a great one for a slasher flick. like on the last ten days of the tour, people just go missing, and the thing would be told from a fans perspective. maybe there’d be a rock n roll detective like six string samurai. i’d call it warped tour the movie.
trl told me it prolly wasn’t worth it to fly out, because there was no guarantee i’d get on, and i kinda breathed a sigh of relief. i think it’d be cool to meet any real rapper really, but it’s best i stay focused on trying to make THIS tour work.
broadway calls and i watched the gambler and mst3k’d. we were crying, we were laughing so hard. it was a great time, a much needed one. a kinda desperate good time as we made our way through the treacherous desert yet again. the bus has got us here on time, in time to do our shows, and yes the ac is intermittent and when i start to cook in the coffin i can’t help but think of escape plans. but now it’s not about me, it’s about the kids that want to see it. i have to take a backseat to them and suffer in the heat. i hate the heat. but i love my fans. sorry if i’m not superman enough for you. i’ve gotten lots of shit off the internet lately. it seems to happen when life gets hard for me because people don’t think it’s real or that i’m spoiled and i should just lap it up. but that’s me. i’ll fight you just like i’ve fought everything else. i know i’m good person and i know there’s a limit to what i can do. and i also believe my happiness is paramount. i think i should be comfortable. and not annoyed and with my eyes closed in a dark bus trying to pretending i’m not covered in sweat and slime.
i have to defend myself on this. i will continue to do the tour, but i wasn’t being a bitch. i got a shitty tour bus because i wanted to be with broadway calls and now i have to suffer for it. i wanted to be a rock star and i’m not there yet. i’m not rich. maybe i wanted to be what my fans think i am. it’s like when curtis told the fisher king story at osso bucco’s. it’s about a hero that reaches for the prize too soon, before he deserves it. the story is how he suffers. i reached too soon for what wasn’t rightly mine and now i’m in the dark and in the heat and i put myself here. but there’s no reason to hate on me for it. i aint givin up.
if it weren’t for lego indiana jones i don’t think i could’ve made it this far. and jonny can jump on co op and make it go all that smoother, especially on the forklift. i’m waiting for more star wars cameo’s. once i was running around as short round with a submachine gun i was like, cool. i actually like this game more than the indiana jones movies because you get explore places like nepal and see luke frozen inside a wall. neat.
as for batman, sorry message boards you thought we were seeing it detroit. i did too until i looked at a calendar. i’d say i’d make it up to but that just makes you type in caps. i think before any of you guys freak out me, know that it was hard to get on the internet in june. we’re still seeing it in cleveland. i’ll announce the theater any blog now. it’s only 2:45 hrs away. batman road trip!
thanks to hasbro joe for calling me from joe con where he was looking for spirit for me. he got me wildbill which is awesome. thanks joe! that really cheered me up. fans have been coming up to me telling me wildbill and spirit are nowhere to be found. security is stopping my perrier smugglers dead in their tracks. (please no more batman reese’s! they just turn into black blue goo. thanks though! we need mst3k dvd’s!)
thanks to everyone that’s come to the show and helped. we’ve got posters coming and we’ll need fans to put them up all over the place. we’ve also got fans walking around holding a sign announcing my set time. help out if you can! cf is making about a 100 a day. i thought it would be more, but maybe we just need to work it harder.
i’ll stop for all you punks that think i write too much. i’m a writer, it’s what i do, and it’s easier than hell to avoid. ur stupid if you hate it and read it. for all those fans that say nice shit everyday and make me videos and remixes and stuff, it helps battle all the negative stuff and the stress. i love you guys for trying to cheer me up and stuffs!
