it’s a rainy day at warped. although it’s cleared up. there’s always some bus drama going on, and then i ride my mongoose, check out the lay of the land. i’ve befriended protest the hero, especially moe and arif. they’re trekkers that are currently xfiles obsessed. they’re trying to see all the episodes before the movie. we’re gonna see it together. moe sounded stoked to work on my next record and the cartoon. other bands that have been nice to me are family force five, 1997, story of the year, and the audition. i also got to meet teenage bottlerocket. they aren’t on the tour but they’re friends with broadway calls. they turned out to be mc fans and smiled during the whole set. i watched against me’s set. it was rules.

the shows have been getting better and better. more and more solid. i now have the setlist i like. it doesn’t go over my 25 minute time limit and im not rushed. my crowds get bigger every day. during a parking lot bbq i went up to kevin lymon, the head of the whole thing:

me: mister… uh… kevin?
kevin: oh hey mc chris, hey (girl’s name) this is mc chris.
me: i just wanted to say thank you. i’m having a great time and i appreciate being included.
kevin: oh yeah, no i like your show, i watched it yesterday.
me:just wanted to say thanks.
kevin: i liked it.
me: it was cool today they had me right by the exit so the crowd that was leaving at the end of the day had to see me. and i got a huge crowd that way.
kevin: you’re getting plenty on your own.

i shook his hand and left it at that. rode the mongoose to protest the hero’s trailer and hung out kinda floored. denver was cool. there was the el camino trail that said no tresspassing. that means let’s do this thing in mc chris language. it was a river along a sidewalk. and it was kinda magical and quiet and there were little micro dragons and butterflies making erratic loops around the flowers. i like seeking out the little heavens.

two fans took me to wall-e. you had to pick your seats so we couldn’t get good seats at the show i announced on stage, and i don’t think anyone else went. so we went to the next showing and still had to sit up front. in spite of babbling babies right to our left, the movie was something else. i was most impressed by the audience and how wrapped up into the story they were. like they were finally being given a life lesson they all yearned for. my favorite shot was when the tidal wave of rogue robots comes around the corner. it’s seen as a eco morality tale by the blogosphere, but it’s even more general than that. it’s about thinking outside the box. robots learning to love and wave. i did not see the luxor ball or the pizza truck and was far too mesmerized to see a hidden mickey. and the hello dolly stuff was kinda cool and weird and took me back to when my brother was in that play in highschool and i’d sneak backstage or go flirt with the spot light operators.

i loved spiderwick chronicles. i watched it one night on the bus. i wasn’t expecting much and once i saw that there were twins played by charlie chocolate factory, both of them i was like oh no this is gonna suck. but then it turned out to be awesome. it’s written by john sayles. or he took part. and maybe that’s where the awesomeness comes from. i really liked the fencing sister, reminded me of a young amy irving and a old highschool sweetheart/current best friend. charlie did pretty great. and nick nolte, and martin short, and the weeds lady, and joan plowright all did great. even seth rogen was awesome. i have a sneaky suspicion he’s a huge nerd. also checklist:

and i for one thought the tomato sauce bombs were in effect, awesome sauce.

i liked it a lot. i remember my fans and i were gonna see it but we saw be kind rewind instead. we should’ve done spiderwick.

everyone helped me get the correct info about the movie theater we’re gonna see batman at in cleveland. we’re staying at the cinemark. it’s nine miles away from the warped tour but hopefully everyone can get rides over. i want to do something in between like go to gameworks or dave and busters or the closest equivalent, close to the cinemark. any ideas???

a couple final cool things:

yesterday cops tried to get a discount so they could buy merch and then they were like, he’s just gonna buy weed with this money isn’t he? and jonny replied, nah it’s all an act. good job jonny!

the day before two cops watched my set with big grins on and then they went to the sound guy and asked who i was and said i was good. the cops like me! i should write a song about them.

while i was doing onstar two days ago, this guy was changing the trash and i saw him bobbing his head and then laughing at certain lines. he was paying attention. i guess i should say he was black. (to have anyone black like my stuff is a big deal to me because i never expect it) after the song i pointed him out and told him that he just gave me one of the best moments of my life. then i made the crowd give him a big round of applause. it was awesome. security sat on stage and bobbed their heads too. i’m winning over the staff and the security. that means a lot to me.

kevin lymon walked past my booth and said hi chris yesterday and he watched my set AGAIN. twice in like a week. and the whole angels and airwaves autograph line had to watch the show. so again i had a captive audience. my folsom prison. i of course played my dq blizzard snobots remix with blink samples. BOOM.

we love watching dexter (i love it because i pretend he’s batman) and playing call of duty four split screen. last stand kills own all. broadway calls make great camp friends. even their pic is of them at camp listening to ghost stories. that’s up everywhere and that’s how it feels. we’re having fun, but joey is sick. feel better joey. i’m motherfuckin watching you motherfucker! that’s what we say to each other all the time, because of dokes on dexter. he’s our favorite.

i’ve already bought my tickets for the the first showing of batman in cleveland ohio. the theater is one mile from the tower ampitheater, so it should be easy maybe even in walking distance! i got twenty tickets, ten for myself and my crew and broadway calls. i will give ten tickets to fans at warped. so see if you can’t find me!

my fingers are filthy. i’m in the weblab, listening to music on my headphones. mainly the new girl talk. i just finished my morning mongoose ride. it was awesome. i was twelve again. i’m wearing a joker shirt and my hat has salty sweat stains around the brim.

i don’t feel like i fit in or that i’m really big enough to be here, but something in me keeps going. i still make a crowd of about 300 happen everyday. and the merch tent is running smoothly. jonny’s doing a great job. we got new merch today. thanks to stephen for putting the order in! i got some great news about being on a controversial movie soundtrack next fall. it’s kinda one of those bucketlist things. i’m reading this book, tour smart by the nine inch nails drummer. it makes me feel like how you feel when you listen to my music, like you’re not the only one. reading the chapter on the bus really put me at ease. i read like 60 pages in one sitting. it gets me excited to take control of my business even further.

the night before i had befriended catering, and we were sitting against the back fence while the aggrolites played a private set for all bands and staff. kevin lymon was cooking on the grill cooking everyone bbq. he got on the mic his voice was hoarse and he was wasted, but he said, keep the party going, that’s why i started this thing, and the aggrolites continues to play songs and i think a guy from reel big fish got on the mic and they harmonized. they had turned the football lights on, so everything was lit up. people were playing sandbag tic tac toe and ultimate frisbee.

i must’ve felt more inspired than aggravated yesterday, thought up a movie idea that would help revitalize the brand and introduce warped to a new gen in the 2010’s. i think this setting is a great one for a slasher flick. like on the last ten days of the tour, people just go missing, and the thing would be told from a fans perspective. maybe there’d be a rock n roll detective like six string samurai. i’d call it warped tour the movie.

trl told me it prolly wasn’t worth it to fly out, because there was no guarantee i’d get on, and i kinda breathed a sigh of relief. i think it’d be cool to meet any real rapper really, but it’s best i stay focused on trying to make THIS tour work.

broadway calls and i watched the gambler and mst3k’d. we were crying, we were laughing so hard. it was a great time, a much needed one. a kinda desperate good time as we made our way through the treacherous desert yet again. the bus has got us here on time, in time to do our shows, and yes the ac is intermittent and when i start to cook in the coffin i can’t help but think of escape plans. but now it’s not about me, it’s about the kids that want to see it. i have to take a backseat to them and suffer in the heat. i hate the heat. but i love my fans. sorry if i’m not superman enough for you. i’ve gotten lots of shit off the internet lately. it seems to happen when life gets hard for me because people don’t think it’s real or that i’m spoiled and i should just lap it up. but that’s me. i’ll fight you just like i’ve fought everything else. i know i’m good person and i know there’s a limit to what i can do. and i also believe my happiness is paramount. i think i should be comfortable. and not annoyed and with my eyes closed in a dark bus trying to pretending i’m not covered in sweat and slime.

i have to defend myself on this. i will continue to do the tour, but i wasn’t being a bitch. i got a shitty tour bus because i wanted to be with broadway calls and now i have to suffer for it. i wanted to be a rock star and i’m not there yet. i’m not rich. maybe i wanted to be what my fans think i am. it’s like when curtis told the fisher king story at osso bucco’s. it’s about a hero that reaches for the prize too soon, before he deserves it. the story is how he suffers. i reached too soon for what wasn’t rightly mine and now i’m in the dark and in the heat and i put myself here. but there’s no reason to hate on me for it. i aint givin up.

if it weren’t for lego indiana jones i don’t think i could’ve made it this far. and jonny can jump on co op and make it go all that smoother, especially on the forklift. i’m waiting for more star wars cameo’s. once i was running around as short round with a submachine gun i was like, cool. i actually like this game more than the indiana jones movies because you get explore places like nepal and see luke frozen inside a wall. neat.

as for batman, sorry message boards you thought we were seeing it detroit. i did too until i looked at a calendar. i’d say i’d make it up to but that just makes you type in caps. i think before any of you guys freak out me, know that it was hard to get on the internet in june. we’re still seeing it in cleveland. i’ll announce the theater any blog now. it’s only 2:45 hrs away. batman road trip!

thanks to hasbro joe for calling me from joe con where he was looking for spirit for me. he got me wildbill which is awesome. thanks joe! that really cheered me up. fans have been coming up to me telling me wildbill and spirit are nowhere to be found. security is stopping my perrier smugglers dead in their tracks. (please no more batman reese’s! they just turn into black blue goo. thanks though! we need mst3k dvd’s!)

thanks to everyone that’s come to the show and helped. we’ve got posters coming and we’ll need fans to put them up all over the place. we’ve also got fans walking around holding a sign announcing my set time. help out if you can! cf is making about a 100 a day. i thought it would be more, but maybe we just need to work it harder.

i’ll stop for all you punks that think i write too much. i’m a writer, it’s what i do, and it’s easier than hell to avoid. ur stupid if you hate it and read it. for all those fans that say nice shit everyday and make me videos and remixes and stuff, it helps battle all the negative stuff and the stress. i love you guys for trying to cheer me up and stuffs!
