September 21st Show in NYC

Filed under: shael riley — admin @ 3:46 am
So I’m at my (hot, Korean) girlfriend’s house and she’s all like “you should make a ‘blog post” and I’m all “I don’t wanna make a blog post! My hand’s messed up; no goody with the typey typey!” but she’s cleaning and I’ve kind of forgotten how to use the Internet to amuse myself, what with the largely obtrustive nine-to-five and the (hot, Korean) girlfriend I’ve had for a while now, so here it is: filler. Yes. That was all filler. Here’s content:

I’m playing a show September 21st at Fat Baby in NYC, at  place called Fat Baby (www.fatbaby.com), where I’ll perform new material from both of my two upcoming albums, as well as some old Toybox tracks and, unavoidabley, Music of my Groin. My booking agent, Rachel, told me not to play a show if I can’t draw at least 30 people, so if you’re 30 people, or you know 30 people, please come, en masse.

So, uh, I’m working on two albums, one with a Canadian, and one with a Texan, a Californian, and a Seattlian. More on that as the situation develops.

I should probably release some new music, though, on the MySpace, yes yes? Alright. We’ll call a meeting.

Shows in different area codes

The show went very well, in spite of severe technical difficulties that caused me to play an acoustic set, sans Ipod-held instrumentals. I made the 40+ head requirement needed to open for MC Frontalot and Optmimus Rhyme next month at Crash Mansion, and have been booked for said performance, which is the biggest venue I will ever have played. Exciting, neh?

This time, at that venue, I need to bring at least 50 heads to be able to keep playing venues of that size. With a month’s lead time, I can do it. Odd how my music is largely inspired by video games and the music business can be perceived to have video game element, with increasingly challenging goals in later levels, and new abilities in the form of new equiptment and contacts. Dork dork dork!

In addition to the Crash Mansion show, I’ve got two away shows next month, in Massachusettes with Front and Optimus on the 20th, and in Idaho with Beefy and MC Router on the 28th. Details for the two earlier shows are as follows:

Friday October 20th:
The Western Front
343 Western Ave.
Cambridge, MA
Shael Riley, MC Frontalot and Optimus Rhyme!
Doors open at 8:00; music starts around 9:00–I’m playing first so don’t be too late.
Youngsters take heed: this show is 18 and over!
10$ cover.

Bootleg of my 10/20 show

Filed under: shael riley — admin @ 3:46 am
A fan was cool enough to Bootleg my 10/20 performance at The Western Front in Boston, opening for Optimus Rhyme and MC Frontalot. He got every track in the 11 song set except for the first. The background instrumnetlas are a little low in the recording, which suits me fine, as I’m already pretty familiar with them, and it is, after all, a bootleg, so some muddiness in the recording is to be accepted, if not expected. Check it out, though! There’s a cool version of Blood on the Asphalt, from my Street Fighter 2 remix project of the same name. There’s also a cover of MC Frontalot’s Braggadoccio, by request from the aformentioned! How badass is that? Truely, it was a good show, and I’m proud to have it recorded. :)

If anyone’s willing to mirror, hit me up, please; I don’t wanna hit this kid’s bandwidth too hard.

Build me up, What?

I have recorded a Build Me Up Buttercup!

And hats off to Lobachevsky, who’s been in fine shape during my sabbatacle.

Beefy, Trenthian and Router: I’ll be tracking down the instrumentals to Balloon Flight and  Session so I can record my parts now. Assistance would be appreciated! Sorry it took so long to get up and running again, Guys.

‘Been a while, hasn’t it?

Did you think my pseudonyms were dead? Well, too bad, my Internet friend, cause the virtual dust has been blown off of The Unsound Method; that is to say, I wrote a song to try out a new piece of software I’m learning and wanted to release it under a different name.

The Unsound Method – Owl, I’m a Fiddle!.
